PRODUCT DETAILS

Product description: Zyban is the first smoking cessation that comes in a pill. Zyban is nicotine-free, which means you can continue smoking with Zyban until you're ready to quit. Zyban acts on the part of your brain that craves nicotine. When used properly, Zyban helps most smokers quite for good in just 7 to 12 weeks.

How to use this product: Take Zyban exactly as prescribed by your doctor. The normal recommended startup dose for Zyban is one 150-mg tablet in the morning for the first 3 days. On the fourth day, begin taking one 150-mg tablet in the morning and one 150-mg tablet in the evening. Doses should be taken at least 8 hours apart. If you forget to take a dose, DO NOT take an extra Zyban tablet to "catch up." Instead, wait until your next scheduled one.

Side effects: The most common side effects are dry mouth and difficulty sleeping. Other less common side effects to stop taking Zyban during clinical studies were shakiness and skin rash.

Precautions: Using ZYBAN and nicotine patches together may raise your blood pressure. Your doctor will probably need to check your blood pressure regularly to make sure that it stays within acceptable levels. If you are using the patch or any other nicotine product along with Zyban DO NOT smoke. Serious side effects can occur. Also, to reduce the risk of complications with Zyban, tell your doctor if you have: liver or kidney disease, a seizure disorder, or if you are pregnant or nursing.

Drug interactions: Do not take Zyban if you have taken a monoamine oxidase inhibitor (MAOI) such as isocarboxazid (Marplan), phenelzine (Nardil), or tranylcypromine (Parnate) in the last 14 days.
